Who We Are

A Northern Territory investigation firm for sensitive, regional and remote matters

Investigations NT was created to provide professional investigation services for clients operating in the unique conditions of the Northern Territory.

The Territory is not just another metropolitan market. Investigations often involve distance, remote locations, close communities, cultural considerations, limited local options, sensitive workplace dynamics and practical access issues.

Our work is focused on helping clients establish facts, assess conduct, preserve evidence and make informed decisions. We conduct investigations lawfully, discreetly and with a clear understanding of the seriousness of the matters we are asked to examine.

Our Position

Territory service, broader regional strength

Investigations NT operates with a clear Northern Territory focus, while being supported by the experience, systems and practical regional capability of Regional Queensland Investigations.

That Queensland connection is a strength, not a distraction. It means NT clients have access to a broader investigation capability while still receiving Territory-specific service, planning and attention.

  • NT Inquiry Agency Licence No. LIA1213
  • Experience across regional, rural and remote environments
  • Workplace, corporate, surveillance and misconduct investigations
  • Clear reports for employers, lawyers, insurers and decision-makers
Our Background

Built on police, legal, compliance and investigative experience

Investigations NT is led by Jason King, a former Victoria Police member and Australian Federal Police officer with more than 25 years of investigative and legal experience. Jason also has a strong personal connection to the Northern Territory, having completed his law degree through Charles Darwin University in Darwin.

01

Police and federal investigation experience

Jason’s background includes service with Victoria Police and the Australian Federal Police, where he was involved in complex, sensitive and evidence-driven investigative work.

02

Legal, governance and Territory connection

Jason completed his law degree through Charles Darwin University in Darwin and holds further postgraduate legal qualifications, including a Master of Laws. He brings a strong understanding of evidence, procedural fairness, privacy, governance and decision-making to sensitive NT matters.

03

Regional and remote practice

Our broader work through Regional Queensland Investigations has developed strong practical capability in regional, rural and remote investigations where planning, discretion and field experience matter.

What Makes Us Different

Not a city firm pretending to understand regional and remote work

We understand that investigation work outside major capital cities requires a different approach. Distance, access, community dynamics and operational planning can all affect how an investigation should be conducted.

Remote-area capability

We understand the practical realities of conducting enquiries across remote roads, regional centres, mine sites, worksites, camps and remote communities.

Procedural fairness

Our workplace and organisational investigations are conducted with attention to fairness, evidence, proper process, interview integrity and defensible reporting.

Cultural awareness

NT matters often require respectful communication and careful engagement, particularly where matters involve First Nations stakeholders, Aboriginal corporations or remote communities.

Practical reporting

We prepare reports that identify the evidence, assess the issues and assist clients to make informed, defensible decisions.

Discreet enquiries

We manage sensitive enquiries with confidentiality, professionalism and care, particularly where reputations, employment, safety or legal outcomes may be affected.

Cross-border strength

Our connection with Regional Queensland Investigations provides broader operational depth for matters involving travel, regional locations or multi-jurisdictional issues.

NT licence and focus

Investigations NT operates under NT Inquiry Agency Licence No. LIA1213 to support Darwin, regional NT and remote Territory locations.

Our Values

How we approach every investigation

The matters we investigate are often sensitive. They may affect employment, reputation, safety, commercial interests, legal proceedings or community relationships. Our approach is guided by care, independence and evidence.

A

Independence

We approach each matter objectively. Our role is to establish what can be proven, not to assume an outcome.

B

Confidentiality

Sensitive information is handled discreetly and professionally, with communication managed according to the needs of the matter.

C

Evidence

Our findings and advice are based on available evidence, proper records, clear analysis and practical reporting.

D

Fairness

Where procedural fairness is required, we support processes that allow relevant people to respond to allegations or adverse information.

E

Respect

We recognise the importance of respectful communication, especially in matters involving remote communities, First Nations stakeholders and culturally sensitive contexts.

F

Practicality

We understand that clients need usable outcomes: clear facts, risk-aware advice and reports that support real decisions.
